Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Formal Playbook collects when you use formalplaybook.com, and what we do with it. It covers our guides and free tools. We'll update it before we open any new service, such as our planned matching service.

What do we collect?

Anonymous page analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. Vercel's documentation says the service doesn't use cookies and doesn't collect personal identifiers that track you across websites. It identifies visits with a hash of the incoming request, and discards that visitor session after 24 hours. It records data such as the page you visited, the referring page, your approximate location (country, region and city), and your browser, operating system and device type. We use this data only in aggregate.

Information your browser sends. Like every website, our hosting provider, Vercel, receives technical information such as your IP address and browser details when it delivers pages. It uses this to run the site and protect it from abuse.

Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to improve our guides.

What our tools collect: nothing. The cost calculator and the planning timeline run entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter into them is sent to us or stored.

What don't we do?

• We don't use cookies for analytics or advertising.
• We don't run ads or advertising trackers.
• We don't sell or share personal information.
• We don't ask you to create an account.

How long do we keep information?

We keep analytics only as aggregated statistics. We keep email conversations for as long as we need them to answer your question or follow up on a correction. Ask us to delete yours and we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.

What are your choices and rights?

You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask any other question about this policy by emailing support@formalplaybook.com. Depending on where you live — for example, in California — you may have additional rights under state privacy laws. We honor them, and we don't sell or share personal information.

Is the site meant for children?

No. Formal Playbook is written for college students, their families and chapter advisors. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

How will we tell you about changes?

We'll update this page and the date at the top whenever this policy changes. If we open a service that collects more information, we'll update this policy before it opens.
